Primary

For those of you who don't know, I am the primary president in our ward. My two year anniversary has just passed. I have officially been in the primary for 6+ years now. I started out as the chorister almost 2 yrs, then moved to teacher six months, second counselor 2yrs. and then president. These last two years really have gone fast. The women I work with are wonderful and really make my job so much easier. When I was first called I cried. The bishop told me that this would be the loneliest I would ever feel until I had my counselor's called and he was right. I don't know what I would do without these faithful sisters.

Our stake presidency has chosen the first week of December as our stake Temple week. We are asked to go to the temple as often as possible. The primary was given direction to have an activity about the temple, to include the children. Our activity was "You can be prepared now to go to the temple". It turned out wonderful. We had the second counselor in the bishopric do a mock temple recommend interview, four of the high priests were there to escort the children to each activity (just like in the temple which is a house of order, there is someone there to help you whenever you need it). There were four activities:
  1. the word of wisdom - healthy snack
  2. tithing - make a bank
  3. honesty - shoots and ladder game
  4. modesty - modest clothing collage.

We only had 20 kids show up out of 65 but it was still fun. The high priests actually thought it was fun. I was worried they would wonder why they were there. But the best part is that we don't have to do another one for another three months :)

That sounds like a lot of fun! I am glad that it turned out. Bummer more kids didn't come cause they really missed out!
